For the Sarathi: Bhagavad Gita Daily app and the sarathilabs.app website. Last updated: November 2026.
The short version. Sarathi has no sign-up and no ads, and it uses no analytics or tracking tools. Your reading, saves and settings are stored on your phone, not on our servers. We do not sell or share personal information.
Who we are
Sarathi is made by Sarathi Labs LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. You can reach us at vivek@sarathilabs.app.
What stays on your device
The verses, translations and meanings are built into the app. Reading them does not send anything to us. The app keeps the following only on your phone, in the app's own storage:
- your reading progress, saved verses and streak;
- your settings, such as language, text size, appearance, sound, and reminder time;
- any mood or reflection choices you make in the app;
- a random code the app creates for sharing and referral links. It is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID.
The Sarathi Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read the current verse from this same on-device storage.
What we do not collect
- No account, name, email address, or phone number. The app does not ask you to sign in.
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, and no advertising identifier.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access.
- No payment card details. If you buy a subscription, Apple processes the payment and we never see your card.
Features that use your phone, not our servers
- Daily reminders. If you turn on a reminder, your phone schedules it locally. We do not receive the time you choose.
- Listen. Recitation uses your device's built-in voice. Background sounds play from files inside the app. Nothing is streamed.
- Sharing. Sharing a verse uses your phone's share sheet, and you choose where it goes. A shared link contains the verse number and the random sharing code described above, so the app can open that verse for the person you send it to.
When the app connects to the internet
- App updates. The app checks our update service, provided by Expo (650 Industries, Inc.), for small content and bug-fix updates. That request carries technical details only: the platform, the app version, the update channel, and a random installation identifier created by the update system. Like any internet request, it also reveals your IP address to the service. We do not use this to identify you.
- Referral and gift codes. When these features are switched on, and only when you use them, the app sends our server the random sharing code, the referral or gift code, the verse number of a shared link, and, for a gift purchase, the App Store transaction ID, so we can confirm the code and apply the right Apple offer. No name or email is sent.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment and gives us confirmation that a purchase is valid. Apple's own privacy policy applies to your Apple ID and payment.
Deleting your data
Use Delete account under the You tab to erase your reading library from the device. Deleting the app also removes everything it stored. Because we do not keep your reading on our servers, there is nothing else to delete. For referral or gift records, email us and we will delete them.
Children
Sarathi is a reading app for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
This website
sarathilabs.app uses no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party scripts or fonts. Our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and reliability.
Changes
If what the app collects changes, for example if optional account sync is added, we will update this page before the change ships and update the date above.
